Remember when your school day opened with a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, without fail? How 'bout when a "broadcast day" on television was ended with the Star Spangled Banner?

Those days are long gone. A child in Orange, Massachusetts drew a United States flag during his school day, but was not allowed to hang it up anywhere in the classroom, even at his desk, for fear that it might "offend someone."

The Superintendent is tap dancing at top speed now claiming "Yankee Doodle Dandy" status because some of his schools recite the Pledge of Allegiance at least once a week and that the young artist had drawn the offending flag at a time in the school day not designated for art.

Let's not encourage patriotism or anything. Never know what that might lead to.

It's time to take some power away from political correctness.

We say the Pledge EVERY morning in my school and movement in the hallways must stop for it. It is then followed by 15 seconds of silence so one can pray, reflect, meditate... whatever they want to do.

If you're in America and are offended by American things, no problem. Feel free to exercise one of our basic freedoms...the freedom to leave!
